OUR VISION

We are a young handmade fashion label from Berlin. In our cosy home studios in Berlin-Mitte and Lichterfelde we produce unique ethical fashion of hemp, the fiber of the future! We are passionate about hemp since 2013, when we got Jack Herer‘s legendary „hemp bible“ in our hands. Since the lecture of that book, we believe that hemp can be one of the key solutions for a sustainable future on our planet Earth, and we experienced a strong call to work with this amazing material. The vision of airuma was born!

Our organic clothing of hemp is handmade with a lot of passion, love and dedication, individually for you, item by item. Each of our products is a single item production according to the made-to-order-principle. We customise your garment according to your measurements, hand-sew and hand-dye it in your favourite color. Thereby, we never produce for the waste bin and adjust your order according to your personal needs!

Our label is radically different. We do not limit our ourselves by the word „trend“ and do not produce according to strict saisonal rules, but follow our creative flow. Different from conventional fashion labels, we never throw any of our designs out after one season; instead, our collection always grows. You can order each of our ethical fashion designs at any time in any color.

When hearing hemp fashion and organic clothing, many people first imagine the classic unsexy potato sack look. Our vision instead is that ethical fashion can be super sexy – the potato sack cliché is outdated. We work with super soft and comfortable, high quality hemp jerseys, which are are toxin-free, not scratchy at all, more durable than cotton and super healthy for your skin.


THE AIRUMA TEAM

We, the creators behind airuma are Magdalena and Katja. We are soul-sisters since childhood days. Already in our teenage years, we have sewed or upcycled our own clothing. Thanks to life‘s miracles, we have turned our common passion into a green business today! We work together with befriended hobby fotographers and models at several different projects for our common vision of airuma – ethical fashion made of hemp. Since 2013, we sell our items successfully on Dawanda (now closed), Etsy and soon in our own webshop as well!

Since 2015, we have expanded our original project to the fascinating dimension of fair trade; we entertain a fair partnership with an indigenous artist couple from Peru, Magnolia and Wilson. They are members of the indigenous group of the Shipibo, who are true masters of visionary inspired embroidery art. We integrate their magnificent embroideries in our hemp dresses – thereby, we create unique pieces of art together and generate a fair and stable income source for our Shipibo friends.
