How do you get around to building lamps?
Of course - you are looking for a lamp for the kitchen and find nothing suitable. You go through the furniture stores and hardware stores and have no exact idea at first, except that the new lamp should correspond to your own taste and fit the already existing furniture.
Already after the first visits it is clear - that with your own taste limits the selection quite a bit. Although there is already this one lamp that looks really good - but it hangs much too low. You don't want to constantly force your favorite visitor K. with his 1.90 m to bend down past the lamp.
A few unsuccessful weeks later, another nice specimen catches your eye. It does not hang too low, gives beautiful light - but mennohhhh! - the umbrella has this slight pink shimmer, which really has no place in the kitchen. Otherwise it would be just right ... If you try to recreate them now? ... Exactly the same, only in white ...
The lamp for the kitchen is more difficult to build than you initially thought - but in the end it hangs and is applauded. So much applause that girlfriend W. places an order. She wants exactly the same - but bigger, flatter, with a different color and also two pieces of it. This is how the business starts ...

Wie kommt man dazu, Lampen zu bauen?
Klar - man sucht eine Lampe für die Wohnküche vielleicht und findet nichts Passendes. Man zieht los durch die Möbelhäuser und Baumärkte und hat erstmal keine genaue Vorstellung, außer dass die neue Lampe dem eigenen Geschmack entsprechen und zu den schon vorhandenen Möbeln passen soll.
Schon nach den ersten Besuchen ist klar - das mit dem eigenen Geschmack schränkt die Auswahl ziemlich ein. Zwar gibt es da schon diese eine Lampe, die wirklich gut aussieht - aber sie hängt viel zu tief. Man will ja den Lieblingsbesucher K. mit seinen 1,90 m nicht ständig dazu nötigen, sich an der Lampe vorbei zu bücken.
Einige erfolglose Wochen später fällt einem ein anderes nettes Exemplar auf. Es hängt nicht zu tief, gibt schönes Licht - aber mennohhhh! - der Schirm hat diesen leicht rosa Schimmer, der in der Wohnküche wirklich nichts zu suchen hat. Ansonsten wäre sie schon genau richtig ... Wenn man sie nun versucht nachzubauen? ... Genauso, nur in weiß ...
Die Lampe für die Wohnküche ist zwar schwieriger zu bauen als man anfangs dachte - aber am Ende hängt sie und findet Beifall. Soviel Beifall, dass Freundin W. eine Bestellung aufgibt.
