Antique-look silvertone disk with an intricately cut scene of two deer jumping over a log in the forest and through trees. Incredibly detailed! Elegant and romantic This set is usually referred to as a Christmas piece, but it is meant to be worn year round. The brooch fastens with a roll lock safety clasp, but it also has a hook bail to be used as a pendant. The earrings are clip on type. From 1958, this Sarah Coventry design is called "Woodland Flight" and it is in pristine condition. Sarah Coventry was founded in Newark, New York State in 1949 by Lyman K. Stuart, President. of the C.H. Stuart Co. The jewelry was named after his granddaughter Sarah Coventry Beale. Sarah Coventry mainly marketed its jewelry through home parties, and continued until 1984 when the company ceased operations. The rights to the Sarah Coventry name were then purchased by a Canadian manufacturer. The better sets and pieces are expected to rise in price and every collector should have at least a few pieces of Sarah Coventry in their vintage jewelry collection.

What is "vintage"? Vintage is a generic term for new or second hand garments, costume jewelry and objects made in the XX century, precisely between 1920s and 1980s. Everything that was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique; production after 1980s is called modern or contemporary, not vintage. Most of vintage items are pre-owned and used, but there is a small percentage of pieces found in warehouses (the so called "new-old stock") or forgotten at home in their pristine condition, some of them with their original tags. MY RULE: I only list items which I would be happy buying or receiving myself. I try to be very honest, thoughtful and accurate when describing my items. However it is important to ask everyone to be mindful that my items are VINTAGE, it means that these items carry a small piece of history and, most of them, they have been a part of someone else's story before they arrive to you. |
